The Personnel Co-op is a membership organization of Human Resource and Personnel professionals. Focus is on the particular needs and concerns of international development and relief organizations. Since 1980 the Co-op has provided hr professionals with programs, information, and networking opportunities that promote professional growth and enhance contributions and effectiveness in their organizations.
The Co-op has a membership of over 150 organizations. Members range
in size from the very large with many projects in many countries to
those with more limited budgets and programs in only one or two countries.
The program focus of the members ranges from the Environment to Health,
Community Development, Relief, Small Enterprise Development, among
others.
The Co-op is committed to improving the professional capabilities of staff in PVOs and NGOs. Toward that end the Co-op organizes workshops for the NGO/PVO community on Best HR Practices, and conducts salary and benefits surveys for HQ, expat and staff located in the countries in which our organizations work. In addition, the Co-op provides a Members-Only extranet site for online information-sharing, discussion groups and an online member directory. The Co-op advocates for PVOs and NGOs on issues of importance to appropriate regulatory agencies. A listserv facilitates members sharing policies, asking each other questions, and giving each other advice.
The Co-op is a non-profit organization funded by membership dues, fees for workshops, survey fees, and in-kind contributions from its members. The Co-op's diverse membership, active participation in surveys and popular workshops attest to the relevance and importance of the organization to the PVO/NGO community.
